Please read these terms carefully before you join the How To Harp Membership. These terms and conditions tell you who we are, how we will provide services to you, how you and we may change or end the contract, what to do if there is a problem and other important information. All rights not expressly granted in these terms are hereby reserved.

You agree to review this agreement periodically to ensure that you are aware of any amendments to this agreement, which may be made at any time.

2. General

We provide educational services, teaching materials and access to online events and live music.  How To Harp is in an online ‘Membership’, you will be referred to as a ‘member’.  We will provide you with log in details in order to access the Membership. We will also manage your access to the Membership and provide support to you, where necessary.


3. Membership Terms


You agree to the following terms relating to your membership with How To Harp:

3.1. You must be at least the age of majority in the jurisdiction where you reside or from which you use the membership or have permission from a parent or legal guardian that has agreed to these Terms and Conditions on your behalf.

3.2. You must provide your full legal name, current address, a valid email address, and any other information needed in order to complete the signup process.

3.3. You are responsible for ensuring that your registration information is true, accurate and complete.

3.4. You acknowledge that How To Harp will use the email address you provide as the primary method for communication, and How To Harp may send email communications to you to convey information about How To Harp’s products and services, including promotional information about new or updated products and services, and How To Harp events. You and may opt-out of such communications on an individual basis by emailing [email protected]

3.5 Once you sign up as a How To Harp member, you will be offered the opportunity to participate in a Pod (small community of members).  The Pods have been created to aid and support learning, your name will be released within your pod, if you do not want your details to be given out then please email [email protected] once you register with How To Harp.


4. Member Regulations


4.1 You, the member, shall not copy, modify, transmit, distribute or in any way exploit the content of the membership or any other copyrighted materials provided other than for your individual learning. Any other purpose is expressly prohibited under these terms. You shall also not permit anyone else to copy, use, modify, transmit, distribute or in any way exploit the content provided in the membership or any other copyrighted materials.  You will not permit anyone else to use log in details given to you, the member.

4.2. You must ensure that you do not, either directly or indirectly:
4.2.1. use the membership for or in connection with any illegal or unauthorised purpose or in a manner that: (a) infringes, violates or misappropriate any rights of any person, including intellectual property, confidentiality or privacy rights, (b) is harmful, fraudulent, deceptive, misleading, threatening, harassing, defamatory, offensive, obscene, vulgar, indecent, menacing or otherwise objectionable as determined by How To Harp in its sole discretion, (c) attempts, in any manner, to obtain the password, account, or other security information from any other user, (d) violates the security of any computer network, or crack any passwords or security encryption codes, or (e) violates any laws, rules or regulations in your jurisdiction (including but not limited to copyright, data protection and privacy laws) as well as the laws of Canada;
4.2.2. lend, sell, resell, lease, sublicense, transfer, assign, distribute, grant a security interest in, or otherwise use the content of the membership for the benefit of a third party, unless we have given you prior written authorisation;
4.2.3. modify, translate, or create derivative works based on the content of the membership or any software, hardware, documentation or data related to the content of the membership, in whole or part, or reproduce, duplicate, copy, or exploit any portion of the membership in whole or in part except to the extent expressly permitted in writing by How To Harp or authorised within the membership;
4.2.4. upload, transmit, disseminate or use the membership to send or store malicious code, including any worms, viruses, Trojan horses, or any other software or code of a destructive nature;

4.2.5. use the membership to advertise, promote or market competitor harp schools/tutors to How To Harp’s members or for any third party’s interests or benefit, other than for the proper use of the How To Harp membership, without our consent;

4.3 We do not knowingly provide services or sell products to children. If you or any of your users are below the age of 16, you or they may use our website or the membership only with the permission and active involvement of a parent or legal guardian. If you are a parent or a legal guardian that has agreed to these Terms and Conditions on behalf of a minor, you are responsible for any and all uses of our membership by the minor.


4.5 We reserve the right to refuse access to the How To Harp membership to anyone for any reason at any time.


4.6 Verbal or written abuse of any kind (including threats of abuse or retribution) by a member or its representatives directed at any How To Harp customer, How To Harp employee, or member will result in immediate termination of the Membership.

5. Access to Materials

5.1 The starting date of your access to the Membership is deemed to be the date of purchase. 


5.2 We will take all commercially reasonable steps to provide you with uninterrupted access to the How To Harp membership. However, your access may be restricted from time to time for reasons beyond our control. Such reasons include force majeure events, power outages and actions from computer hackers and others acting outside the law. Your access may also be interrupted due to software issues, server downtime, increased Internet traffic, programming errors, regular maintenance and other related reasons. Where this is the case, we will take commercially reasonable steps to restore your full access within a reasonable period of time. ‘Commercially reasonable’ in these terms shall mean reasonable efforts taken in good faith, without an unduly burdensome use or expenditure of time, resources, personnel or money.


5.3 Our aim is to provide courses and materials of the highest quality. As such, improvements or changes to the content of the membership or any other materials may occur at any time without prior notification in order to ensure that they are up to date and accurate.


5.4 We provide the materials ‘as is’ and without any warranties, whether express or implied, except those that cannot be excluded under statute. We also do not warrant that the materials will be error free, including technical inaccuracies.

6. Payment of Fees

6.1 A valid credit or debit card is required for Accounts to be able to process orders using a live payment gateway. 


6.2 Access to the membership will be billed monthly, six-monthly or annually depending on which plan you have signed up to. 


6.3 Payments are taken automatically through Stripe.  If you joined during a sales period, after the stated sales period your subscription will continue automatically monthly, six-monthly or annually depending on which plan you have signed up to and at the current membership fee.


6.4 We do not have a minimum subscription period, you can cancel your account at anytime.  Please see section 7.1 for details on how to cancel.  If you are having issues please email us at anytime at [email protected].


7. Cancellation


7.1 If you decide to cancel your membership, use the ‘My Account’ section on your student dashboard. When you cancel you will keep access to all content until the scheduled date of your next payment. This will vary depending on if you are on a monthly, 6 month or 12 month plan. At this stage your payment will not be taken, and you will then lose access to all content. If you are ever having financial difficulty and are worried about missing a payment, please get in touch. We often help members in difficult times, just reach out and we will do everything we can to help you. 

8. Modifications to the Services and Prices

The How To Harp membership’s prices are subject to changes and annual increases for new members.  However, the monthly, six monthly or annual membership fee that each member signs up to, will not increase unless they cancel their membership and rejoin at a later date.  If a member joins the membership with a special offer of a discounted monthly fee, the full membership fee will be charged after the stated period of time.

9. Illness & Absence

The How To Harp membership offers live events from guest speakers and from Heather Downie herself on a regular basis.  Every attempt will be made to host those events, however, cancellation may occur at the last minute or with warning due to illness or for other reasons. Rescheduling of events because of illness will be attempted but will not necessarily be possible.  Heather Downie does not need to commit to these events as part of the How To Harp membership but chooses to do so, in order to offer her members the most valuable learning experience.  At any time, the structure of live events may change or be paused for personal reasons, this will not change the fee structure of the membership.

10. Personal Data

10.1. The ordinary operation of our membership requires us to collect personal data related to individuals that are you, our members.

10.2 We will process personal data of our members in accordance with our Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy will form part of these Terms and Conditions and may be amended in accordance with their terms.
