Technique Bank
Inside the Technique Bank, you’ll find a wide variety of courses and individual exercises, carefully designed to target specific harp techniques. These lessons and exercises are developed with clear goals in mind to help you improve your accuracy, control, tone, and overall musicianship.
To make your learning journey as smooth and efficient as possible, the Technique Bank features a powerful search and filter system. You can find the exact techniques you want to work on by selecting from specific tecnique categories, and filtering for your current skill level.
By regularly engaging with the Technique Bank, you’ll develop the essential habits and skills that transform good harp playing into truly expressive and polished performances.
Tune Bank
The Tune Bank is your personal library of harp music, a growing collection of beautiful, carefully chosen pieces across a variety of styles and levels.
You can filter the tunes by genre and level of difficulty to find pieces that are suitable for you, whether you’re a complete beginner through to a more experienced player.
Choose your learning style:
Quick Learns
Quick Learns are taught through full, slow-tempo demonstrations - right hand, left hand, then hands together - along with helpful tips and an overview of how to approach the piece.
While they’re called “Quick Learns,” they may take just as long to master as a full course, they simply offer a different style of teaching.
Full Courses
These are step-by-step, bar-by-bar lessons, ideal for learners who enjoy a detailed, methodical approach. You’ll be guided through the entire piece with technical instruction, musical interpretation, fingerings, rhythm, and expression.
Sheet Music Access
• For out-of-copyright pieces, sheet music is available to download directly from How To Harp.
• For copyrighted works, you’ll be directed to a trusted site where you can purchase the music for a low fee.
Social Opportunities
How To Harp isn’t just about learning, it’s also about community, connection, and encouragement.
The How To Harp Circle Community
This is where all the chats, questions and connections happen. You’ll find different spaces to explore, places to chat, clubs to join and a place to stay connected with harpists from around the world as well as the opportunity to RSVP to events to get notification emails so that you don't miss anything. We recommend you stay logged into both the How To Harp Membership and the How To Harp Circle Community so that you can toggle easily between the two.
Harp Lounge Meetups
We have regular opportunities to meet with small groups of How To Harp members in a safe, personal setting where you can chat, ask questions and maybe play your harps for each other. Each session is led by one of our Sweet Peas who are experienced members of How To Harp. There are sessions at different times through each month, so hopefully you can find one or two that would suit you. You can go to as many or as few as you like.
HTH Buddies
Would you like a harp buddy? If so, we will introduce you to another How To Harp member via email and you can then communicate in any way that suits you both eg. email, Zoom, or whatever works for you - it's a lovely way to stay motivated and share your harp journey with a friend.
Practice Together Sessions
Join these friendly, live group practice sessions to stay accountable and motivated. Bring your harp, settle in, and work alongside others in a calm, supportive space - like a virtual practice room with harp friends.
Practice Performing Club
Build confidence in a safe, supportive space. You can choose to perform something (no matter how small), or simply attend as part of the audience, which is just as important. It’s a great way to get used to sharing music without pressure.
Harpy Speed Chatting
Pop into these relaxed, fun sessions to meet other members in short, friendly one-on-one chats.
As you can see, How To Harp provides you with lots of ways to feel supported and to be part of something really meaningful. You're never learning alone and we feel this is hugely important for us all.
